Your First MediaLock in 5 Minutes
Everything you need to start protecting and monetizing your content — no technical experience needed.
Put everything in one .zip
Selling more than one file (software, presets, templates, a photo pack, an e-book plus bonuses)? Put them all in a single folder, then:
Windows: right-click the folder → Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder
Mac: right-click the folder → Compress
Phone: in the Files app, select the files → Compress / Zip
One single file (like a PDF) can be uploaded as-is. Maximum size is 2 GB.
Upload it
Go to Upload and choose your .zip. A green 📦 Digital download box appears confirming buyers will get a Download button and this exact file. Digital Download is switched on automatically; there's nothing else to enable.
Give it the title buyers should see, e.g. "Sunset Lightroom Presets (12-pack)".
Set the price
For a product people keep, turn on Lifetime Access and set your price (e.g. $19.99). Turn off Email Preview and Free Watch unless you want to give it away; for a download those would hand out the whole file.
Make sure Settings has your payout method connected (PayPal, Stripe, Venmo or Cash App), so the money goes to you.
Share the link and test it once
When processing finishes, copy the item's link from My Content. Open it in a private/incognito window: you'll see your title, the price and a buy button. After a buyer pays, the page shows ⬇ Download your-file.zip, with the real name and size.
Buyers can come back to the same link on the same browser to download again while their access lasts. Every sale appears in Audience.
Good to know: MediaLock controls who can download and when. Once a buyer has downloaded the file it's an ordinary file on their computer, as with any digital download store.
Set Up How You Get Paid First
Head to Settings and connect your payment account — PayPal, Stripe, Venmo, or Cash App. Payments go directly to you. MediaLock just verifies that payment happened.
If you're testing, use PayPal Sandbox mode. It runs the full checkout flow with fake money so you can make sure everything looks right before going live.
Upload Your File
Go to Upload and drop in your file. MediaLock handles video, audio, and any other format (PDFs, ZIPs, documents, etc.). Give it a clear, descriptive title — your viewers see it on the paywall page, so it's part of your sales pitch.
Processing usually takes 1–5 minutes depending on file size. You don't need to stay on the page — check back in My Content when it's done.
Choose Your Access Tiers
This is your monetization strategy. Stack multiple options — viewers pick what works for them. The most popular combo that converts best:

✅ Lifetime ($19.99) — your best revenue tier
Add a View Limit on lifetime licenses to drive re-purchase. Set it to 5–10 plays and charge again when they hit the limit.
Share Your Watch Link
Once processed, you get a permanent watch link like:

This link never changes. Share it anywhere — social media, email list, your website, a landing page. The paywall handles every viewer automatically.
Edit Rules Anytime — No Re-Upload Needed
Changed your mind about pricing? Running a sale? No problem. Click ✏ Edit Rules on any item in My Content. Change prices, add or remove tiers, update view limits — all instant. Your existing viewer licenses stay valid.
(Optional) Host Segments on Your Own CDN
For heavy traffic or large libraries, host encrypted video segments on Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, or any static host. MediaLock keeps doing the DRM (key delivery, view counting, paywall) — your CDN handles the bandwidth.
In My Content: hit ⬇ Segments to download the encrypted files → upload to your CDN → paste the folder URL in the CDN URL field → Save. Done.
Stack Rental + Lifetime
Having both gives viewers an easy entry point and a clear upgrade path. This is the highest-converting combo across most content types.
Email Preview Builds Your List
Set it to 3–7 days. Viewers who try before buying are far more likely to purchase — and you collect emails for future campaigns.
View Limits Drive Re-Purchase
Set lifetime licenses to 5–10 views instead of unlimited. When the limit hits, viewers are prompted to pay again — great for event replays.
Always Test in Sandbox First
Use PayPal Sandbox and run a complete checkout before going live. This catches payment config issues before real money is on the line.

Sold access through another platform? Give paying members a password. Change it anytime to rotate or revoke access.
Title Your Content Clearly
"Chapter 3: Advanced Techniques" is better than "Video 3". Clear titles show on the paywall and directly affect conversion.

Use a CDN for Scale
Hosting .ts files on Cloudflare R2 or Amazon S3 is nearly free and gives unlimited bandwidth. MediaLock handles DRM — the CDN handles delivery.

Movies: 48 hours. Courses: 30–90 days. Live replays: 24 hours. Match the window to how long it actually takes to consume your content.
